  • How To Create A Great Life
By JoAnn Manzella on June 30, 2009 | No Comments Comments

When you deliberately seek positive aspects of whatever you are giving your attention to, you, in a sense, tune your vibrational tuner to more positive aspects of everything. And, of course, you could tune yourself negatively as well. But as you are deliberately looking for positive aspects in yourself or in others, you will find more of those things: “The better it gets, the better it gets,” for you get more and more of what you are thinking about —whether you want it or not.

    — Abraham

ok so you read this quote and think, “what the…?!!?  let me break it down for you a bit.

We all operate based on the “Laws of the Universe”.  Well, one of those laws is the “Law of Polarity”.  For  example, when the table is 3 feet from the ground, it must also be true that the ground is 3 feet from the table.  right?

So, if there is a positive in something there is also a negative present.  You can CHOOSE to see the positive or negative depending on what you focus on. BUT they are both present at the same time.  Another example is, you read a great book. You focus on what is great about the book.  However, if you turn your attention to the negative and think about what is not good about the book, you WILL find that too.

If you keep focusing on the negative, the more that will appear in your life, consequently, if you focus on the positive, the more that will appear in your life.  Because most of the time we do this subconsciously, we create things in our life without realizing it. And yes, we do this in every moment either consciously or subconsciously.

So yes, believe it or not you are creating everything that happens in your life.  Therefore, it is just as easy to create a great life as it is to suffer from misery.

Well, I hope I scratched the surface a little on this.  I have been studying the “Laws of the Universe” for some time now and I have seen some pretty amazing things happening in my life and the lives of those I coach.

  • The Ugly Monster
By JoAnn Manzella on June 18, 2009 | No Comments Comments

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, “I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.” . . . You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
    - Eleanor Roosevelt

Do you ever find yourself dwelling on what you think you can’t do?

All the places you can’t go?

All the things you can’t afford?

    It’s horrible isn’t it?

We all know what happens.  We create the ugly monster in our heads and all of a sudden it literally consumes our entire body.

I would like to share with you an example you probably all are very familiar with whether it be your own childhood memory or your actual child.  It’s taking those training wheels off your bike and riding that 2 wheeler for the very first time.

Well my husband and I went through this just yesterday.  My 8 year old daughter has been terrified to take those wheels off and find freedom of riding that 2 wheeler.  The mere talk of riding the bike literally put her into a state of panic, hyperventilating and all.  I must admit I was getting a little frustrated.

I have to say that after teaching the 4th child out of 5 to ride a bike I didn’t have the same tolerance as the first.  But then I began looking at the experience a little differently.  I saw the fear that truly made her scared to death.  In her mind, SHE COULDN’T DO IT.

How many times do we do this to ourselves?  We let the illusion of this ugly monster prevent us from taking the leap to greatness.  We give it such great power to control our lives.

What are some of the things that you have allowed to dominate your thinking and stop you from moving forward?

So, after some deep breathing and a little coaxing she decided to give it a try.  She did great.  Not just ok, but GREAT!
Perfect take off, launch, dismount and landing.

No falls (until a littler later).   And we all know that is a given at some point.

But let’s think about the lesson here.  Next time you let the fear overtake your mind and body, ask yourself, “what is the worst thing that can happen?”

Even if the answer is fall flat on your face…..so what, the benefit is total growth!!  And hey, we may be surprised and have the perfect take off, launch, dismount and landing.  How cool is that?

So, there’s only one cure. You know that, right?

You’ve got to do the thing you think you cannot do.

I know, I know, it’s not that easy is it?

But when you think about it, it’s not that hard either!

    Just take a step……

A single step where you move toward doing something that you’ve always thought was impossible and before you know it, the possibilities start appearing.

My daughter now sees the possibilities that were before her all along.  She can now take a ride around the block with her siblings and friends, she has gained tremendous confidence and she will soon be allowed to ride on the street by herself like everyone else.

Still thinking that your ugly monster is different from her ugly monster?
No it really isn’t.  It is all just an illusion that we create in our mind.  An illusion that stops you dead in your tracks and prevents growth.  Remember things don’t stay the same.  The world does not stop, so if you are not growing you are dying.  I definitely choose to grow.  And I choose that in every moment as difficult as it seems.

So my challenge to you is to identify your ugly monster, take that step to abolish it and watch your possibilities become clearly defined.

  • I have Chosen NOT to participate in the Recession
By JoAnn Manzella on October 12, 2008 | No Comments Comments

I have Chosen NOT to participate in the Recession? What about you?

My mentor recently said this to me, “If there’s a recession, I have chosen not to participate.” I totally agree.

Now, you may be thinking “Are you crazy, JoAnn? I am losing money, I fear losing my job, and I am having trouble making ends meet – of course there is a recession.  How can you ignore that?”

My answer may come as a surprise but here is a quote from Johnny Carson-
“Never continue in a job you don’t enjoy.  If you are happy in what you are doing, you’ll like yourself, you’ll have inner peace.  And if you have that, along with physical health, you will have had more success than you could have possibly imagined.”

It all comes down to living the life YOU choose.  I believe we have all been created with a purpose. If you think about your passions and realize your true purpose you may realize that there is something bigger for you. Put your trust in God, Spirit, the Universe (whatever you believe in) and your life Will be fulfilled.  I will go into more detail in future posts.

For now, stop watching the news.  Remember that the media is a business.  Their job is to sell you on their views, to make you so uncomfortable that you will want to keep watching their channel which in turn increases their ratings.  When listening to or watching a program that is making you depressed or anxious, ask yourself this, “How is this serving me? If your answer is negative, turn it off, listen to something motivational, listen to your favorite music, just get away from that which brings your down and this will bring a greater sense of peace.
